Rich and Luther

(With my good friend Luther in Korea)

Hi! Just wanted to start a work and travel blog where I can be a little more informative as to what I’m up to (and against!) in my job as the Director of Online Strategies with the Global Campus Team with Campus Crusade. Love to be able to interact with our ministry partners that want a little more detail besides what comes in a one page letter once a month. So, please feel free to add comments as well as ask questions of me! I also want to be able to give you an idea of where I am going and why and what I hope to accomplish while I go on my international trips. I’ll also include some pictures and even videos.

On the 1st of December, I will be headed to Cairo, Egypt to be with significant campus leaders from around the world. One of my roles on the greater Global Campus Team in Orlando besides working with online strategies is to coach some of these leaders in their ability to lead the staff and students that report to them. Many of these leaders did what I used to do and coordinate the campus ministry in a particular group of countries. When I was the Campus Coordinator for North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia I oversaw the campus ministry in over 30 countries. Not an easy thing to coordinate when you think of all the languages, countries, cultures and security situations that were working with me. Some of these leaders work in difficult parts of Asia, Africa, and South America. Their combined territory represents every country in the world.

I’m looking forward to this trip for a number of reasons. One, I used to live in Cairo and the hotel where we are staying is about 300 yards from where I used to go to campus to share the Gospel with students over 17 years ago (man, I’m getting old!). Second, my good friend pictured above, Luther, will be there. Luther and I have a long friendship as we worked together while I was serving in Paris as the campus coordinator. Luther was the National Campus director of Egypt. We spent many long hours of laughing, praying, and strategizing for the campus ministry in Egypt and throughout the Middle East. He and his family came to speak while Kourtney and I were living in Colorado for the summer. We had a phenomenal time of family with family and that time really solidified our friendship.Cairo has a special place in my heart and it will be fun to share that passion with campus leaders from around the world as well as to renew many friendships that I have in Cairo. Cairo is the place where God called me to minister and reach students in the Middle East. Through the power of the internet, I really believe that we can reach students from all different backgrounds in the Middle East! I’ll fill you in on what happened when I return on the 8th of December. Please pray for Kourtney and the kids while I am gone.
